Ames Research Center is a field laboratory of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Ames is located in the heart of "Silicon Valley" near the town of Mountain View, which is approximately 35 miles south of San Francisco. Ames specializes in scientific research, exploration, and applications aimed toward creating new technology for the nation.
The SCEP provides paid work experiences for undergraduate and graduate students. Students may work part-time while attending school part-time or attend school full time, alternating with periods of full-time work. The SCEP also provides non-competitive conversion to a term or permanent position. See FAQ's for more details.
Participants in the program must meet the following criteria:
Be a U.S. citizen
Be enrolled in an accredited 4-year college or university, graduate or professional school
Be enrolled at least half-time
Maintain a 2.90 cumulative grade point average (GPA)
Preferred GPA : 3.00
Must have completed a minimum of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours
Must have a minimum of one year of academic study remaining before graduation
Applicants will be evaluated and considered for positions based on their education and experience.

Participants selected for the program will be paid in grade ranges from GS-4 to GS-11. The actual grade and salary offered will depend on the qualifications of the person selected and the requirements of the position. For more information on salary, please refer to the FAQs for SCEP.
